Chief Jeffrey R. Biehl joined the Wyomissing Police Department in 1978.  He worked as a patrol officer until 1990, when he was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit.  In 1991 he was promoted to Sergeant in charge of Special Services.  In 1994 he was promoted to Lieutenant and was chosen as Berks County’s Police Officer of the Year.  He was appointed Chief of Police in 1997.

Chief Biehl holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Penn State University and a Master’s Degree from West Chester University.  He currently teaches in the criminal justice programs at the Reading Police Academy and the Reading Area Community College.

He and his wife, Laurie, have three children, Kelly, Kristy, and Kaitlyn.
