Permits
Please carefully follow the instructions on each permit application. Remember to submit the appropriate fees and supporting documents with each submission.
Permit applications may be dropped off in-person at Borough Hall, 22 Reading Boulevard, Wyomissing, PA 19610, or placed in the drop box to the right of the Borough Hall entry door. Those choosing to mail applications may do so to the Borough Hall address, and if you would like the completed permit mailed back to you, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. The Borough is not responsible for delays in mailing or loss of items in the mail. Be sure that the correct postage is including on the return envelope, as the Borough is also not responsible for postage fees.
No applications will be accepted via online submissions!

- When applying, be sure to have the applicable application fee as provided in the current year Fee Schedule.
- Permits will not be issued immediately. Please allow several business days for review and issuance of the permit
- Dumpsters are permitted for 10 days, unless there is an active building permit
- Moving storage boxes are permitted for 3 days
- A permit is required regardless of where the container will be placed

If you are planning on promoting or distributing information about your business, your products and/or services, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR A SOLICITATION PERMIT. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO SOLICIT WITHOUT SAID PERMIT.
- When applying, be sure to have the applicable application fee as provided in the current year Fee Schedule.
- Photo identification is required at time of submission of the application
- Permits will not be issued immediately. Please allow several business days for review and issuance of the permit
- Permits are valid for 60 days
- You do not need a permit if you are only distributing door hangers

To temporarily install a non-permanent structure such as tents, trailers, modular buildings, banners, etc., the Borough requires submission of the Temporary Use permit application.
- When applying, be sure to have the applicable application fee as provided in the current year Fee Schedule.
- Permits will not be issued immediately. Please allow several business days for review and issuance of the permit
- The application indicates what timeframe each category constitutes temporary use

To install a shed, residential/commercial fence, driveway, sidewalk, patio/paving/hardscape, commercial sign refacing, etc., a miscellaneous/zoning permit is required.
- When applying, be sure to have the applicable application fee as provided in the current year Fee Schedule.
- Permits will not be issued immediately. Please allow up to two weeks for review and issuance of the permit
Additionally, any commercial building project also required the submission of a Miscellaneous/Zoning Permit.
- Exceptions to commercial building projects not requiring a Miscellaneous/Zoning Permit include sprinkler systems, electrical panels, and other mechanical work where their is no proposed change in use.

As a general rule, the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) requires that a property owner or the owner’s authorized agent obtain a UCC construction or building permit before commencing any work and that the work be inspected in the following cases:
- When applying, be sure to have the applicable application fee as provided in the current year Fee Schedule
- Construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, movement, demolition or change in occupancy of a residential building
- Erection, installation, enlargement, alteration, repair, removal, replacement or conversion of any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system regulated by the UCC
- Construction or installation of a swimming pool, hot tub or spa
- Detached structures proposed to be larger than 1,000 square feet
- Site preparation, foundation, construction, utility connections, alterations, additions, repairs and changes of occupancy of manufactured and industrialized housing
- Under the UCC, a building, structure or facility cannot be used or occupied without a UCC certificate of occupancy first being issued
Emergency repairs or replacement of equipment may be made without first applying for a permit so long as a permit application is submitted to the building code official within 3 business days after the repair or replacement.
